Computer problems at LAX
Did you hear about the [[http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2007/08/11/computer-problems-at-lax-_n_60083.html|computer problems at Los Angeles International Airport]] that left upto 2500 passengers stuck at immigration for upto 5 hrs! Sure, its nothing to feel good about, but I will still unabashedly admit that reading about LAX having such problems made me hopeful about India’s airports.
Seriously, the air travel infrastructure in India needs some major improvement. Airport terminals need to be revamped (they often stink of urine), airport officials need to be more professional in dealing with passengers (I have first hand experiences of mistreatment at IGI), the support infrastructure (roads, buses, food, electricity, Internet accesibility) needs to catch up with the load etc.
A friend told me that the new terminal at Mumbai CST is pretty good. I hope so! This time when I was in Delhi, I noticed that the airport was (still) undergoing lots of construction activity. However, this time around I noticed signboards of a company — [[http://www.gmrgroup.co.in/airports_projects.html|GMR]]. I checked them out and was happy to see that they have a website dedicated to the [[http://www.newdelhiairport.in/|IGI development]], as well as one for the [[http://www.hyderabad.aero/|new airport at Hyderabad]].
