Missed 13th!

Darn! I was aiming for a-post-a-day this year (ok, thats way too ambitious, but no harm in aiming high) but I missed yesterday. Well, no harm done, since I can always manually change the time stamp of this post (heh heh, talk about cheating)

Last few days I’ve been looking at Drupal. I’m seriosly thinking about ways of integrating my website — so that the static content, the blog and the gallery all fit in together with each other. Right now they’re just chunks sitting in separate name spaces. Drupal looks good, but it doesn’t have a photo gallery built in. Further, I really like Forrest’s ability to generate content in different formats. Another thing I don’t like about Drupal (or CMSes in general) is that it requires you to input content through the web interface only. Sure there are plugins that let you use a blog API to post blog entries remotely, but for other Drupal content (like articles, books, stories) you have to go through the web interface, which is kind of clumsy.

On the other hand, there’s no neat work around to it, given that its a database backed system. I mean one could imagine writing a Vim plugin to interface with Drupal, but I’m not sure if that’ll be feasible. So for now, I guess what it boils to is that I’ll stick with the present setup, but maybe tweak the skins and themes to give them a consistent look and feel.
