Election night

Its one of those days (or nights), when CNN grabs all of the network traffic — be it television, or the internet or the telephone network! Looks like its going to be a really close election — I heard an analyst on CNN say that the last time elections were this close was back in 1884, beat that!

Its been a happening day on other fronts as well. :slashdot: is running a story about a British firm, mi2g which declared Mac OS X and BSD to be the most secure OS. This so-called “comprehensive” study has grabbed a lot of attention, which is not surprising since it also claims that Linux was one of the *most* breached OSes around. But a lot of people (including yours truly) are of the opinion that their survey was as un-scientific as it can be. First, they only look at *manual* exploits. Second, they look at *absolute* numbers, not normalized by market share or number of users.

Elsewhere, the Mondo Rescue project has been shutdown due to a law suit on one of the developers, a Ray Sanders, by his erstwhile employers at FastServers.net — too bad for them. :asim: and I were talking about using Mondo for our hard drive backups just 2 days back!
