India rejects One Laptop Per Child

Interesting news story at The Register: [[http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/07/26/india_says_no_to_olpc | India rejects One Laptop Per Child]].

I must say that I had mixed reactions on reading the story. Mr. Banerjee’s arguments might have some truth to it. On the other hand, I feel the project has ambitious, laudable goals, and that it can’t succeed without the support of countries like India.

These computers would be pointless to have in any third world nations. If India doesn’t want them, why would any other nation. They are a pathetic excuse for a computer and could be replaced by a slide rule.
